The season of abundance is upon us and that means that GPC is out working hard all across the region There's lots to celebrate in June and plenty to do throughout the rest of summer!

Thanks to the amazing community rallying around local conservation, a record-breaking $162,682.00 was raised! Iklil Gregg Photography captured some great images of the evening's fun and you can see a selection on the GPC blog below. Thank you to everyone who made this amazing night possible!

Thanks to our 2023 Lead Sponsors!

Great Peninsula Conservancy is excited to recognize our newest Legacy Society member, Elizabeth (Liz) Lathrop of Gig Harbor. Liz has been a supporter of local land conservation since the early days of Peninsula Heritage Land Trust, one of the four regional land trusts that merged in 2000 to form GPC. Read more about Liz on the GPC Blog!

The Legacy Society at Great Peninsula Conservancy honors members who have included GPC in their estate planning. Fueled by a $20,000 match, GPC launched a Legacy Challenge to increase the impact of each legacy pledge received this year.

Conservation

DeWatto Shoreline Expansion!

This June the conservation team secured a five-acre inholding within our 31-acre Dewatto Shoreline Preserve on Hood Canal in Mason County. Funding was provided by the Hood Canal Coordinating Council, who will also be helping restore the property.  This parcel will help create a contiguous block of conservation land and includes 160 feet of waterfront, further protecting this beautiful section of Hood Canal forever! Thanks to member support and our conservation partnerships for making this happen!

A tour of Newberry Woods Community Forest in early 2022.

GPC is forming a Community Forest Advisory Team (CFAT) to provide input, and advice, on the various activities and management decisions for Newberry Woods Community Forest (NWCF). Working with GPC staff and committee members, the CFAT will bring the voices of the community to the long-term management and use of NWCF.

Interested parties should support GPC's mission, have a connection to the local community, and be prepared to commit to monthly/yearly time requirements.

If this sounds like you, express interest below or email Micaela Petrini, Stewardship Associate, micaela@greatpeninsula.org. Interested individuals will receive an information packet that includes a position description and an application.

GPC plans to review applications in July/early August and anticipates holding the first meeting with Community Forest Advisory Team members in August 2023.
