What: A GPC Walk & Talk: Natural and Cultural History of Hood Canal

Details: Join us for a morning of exploration and learning as we discuss the rich, cultural heritage that flourishes along the shorelines of Hood Canal and the diverse ecosystem that has shaped and sustained it since time immemorial. We’ll talk about recent habitat restoration efforts, programs that monitor for forage fish and green crab, as well as the natural shoreline processes of the region. Learn about its more recent history as the site of a Boy Scout camp that operated for over 80 years until it was sold to Great Peninsula Conservancy, with an intention for salmon restoration. Today, the many burbling waterfalls, moss-covered trees, and excellent beach views of the Olympics remind us of the beauty of our home.

Accessibility: Please anticipate walking up to 1 mile. Terrain will be possibly muddy/slippery, along natural trails and inclines.
