What: Walk and Talk: Farm Preservation
Where: Poulsbo, Washington. Address and parking will be provided to attendees via email after registration. Please RSVP.
A win for farmers is a win for local conservation! Join GPC on Saturday, September 21st to tour the newly protected Dogfish Creek Farm, formerly the Bledsoe Farm, in Poulsbo. Purchased by Great Peninsula Conservancy in late January of 2024, the Dogfish Creek Farm project represents a new and creative conservation initiative for GPC. With the goal of preserving farmland and making opportunities for the next generation of local farmers more financially accessible, GPC has partnered with a small group of local farmers who will later purchase the farm after an agricultural conservation easement has been placed to protect the property’s agricultural use in perpetuity. Come learn about the “Buy Protect Sell” farm protection model, meet representatives from the Dogfish Creek Farm Collective, and get a sneak peak of future plans for the farm!
Accessibility: Please come prepared to walk at least a mile and a half through pastures with several steep climbs. We recommend comfortable close-toed shoes/boots and weather appropriate layers.
