We're Grateful for You!

We have a lot to be thankful for at GPC: Having you on our incredible team, the land and water we steward, and the incredible communities and partners we work with! Read on and learn how you can help make sure we finish off 2023 stronger than ever during Giving Tuesday!

In November, the hard work and planning of GPC and the Stillwaters Environmental Center board came to fruition: Stillwaters now lives under the umbrella of GPC's Land Labs program and we couldn't be more excited. Read GPC Executive Director Nate Daniel's letter below to learn more about this coming together for the benefit of community conservation and education.

Ben Crooke
Conservation Education Fellow

Ben (he/they) studied ecology and conservation in college, where he realized his interest not only in science, but how nature intersects with society and policy. Ben is ecstatic about taking his next step with GPC’s team to combine community engagement education with conservation and stewardship. 

Kora Freeman-Gerlach 
Communications Fellow 

Originally from Northern California, Kora (she/her) is thrilled to be back on the West Coast after earning a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies in Vermont. Kora is excited to dive deeper into conservation at GPC through environmental storytelling as the Communications Fellow.  


Ashlyn McGarrah
Community Stewardship Fellow 

Ashlyn (she/her) is a recent graduate of the University of Washington with a BA in Environmental Studies, bringing a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to her role at GPC. For her year of service, Ashlyn is dedicated to empowering communities to engage in conservation efforts and connect to their local lands. 

 

Great Peninsula Conservancy's Legacy Society is a group of supporters who speak directly to their love of nature by including GPC in their estate planning. Each new member who signs a pledge to join the Legacy Society unlocks an additional $1,000 that goes immediately to GPC's work protecting ecologically important lands across the region. Any pledge, no matter the amount, unlocks this additional $1,000!

We celebrated Orca Recovery Day this year with a Walk & Talk at Curley Creek Tyner Preserve! Check out the GPC blog to learn about the ways land conservation can have a direct impact on Southern Resident Killer Whales!

Join us for a morning of stewardship at Grovers Creek Preserve Saturday December 2nd! We'll be continuing to build habitat piles to support ecological forest management efforts on the preserve and we'd love your help!

 

Come explore Grovers Creek Preserve for a Walk and Talk on Saturday December 16th! Learn about climate resilient forests and the work GPC is doing to ensure our forests are ready for the future. 

 

Great Peninsula Conservancy is continuing to assist the Clear Creek Task Force in recruiting more volunteers and forming a new leadership team. All are welcome to join this upcoming meeting to start the process; no RSVP required.

The next meeting is on Thursday, Dec. 7th, 5:30-7pm. Join at the Clear Creek Sa’qad Interpretive Center or via Zoom. The Task Force meets the first Thursday of the month.
