Welcome, Ben!

Ben Wymer joined the GPC stewardship staff in May 2022 and is dedicated to managing the protected lands for the intrinsic and instrumental values the landscape provides to wildlife and people. The expertise he brings comes from his Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from the University New Hampshire and, more recently, his stewardship and mapping work for the land trust community in New Hampshire. An avid naturalist and photographer, Ben is always exploring the natural landscapes in his free time on a mission to connect people with the furry and feathery neighbors that surround us.

Stewardship Event
Volunteers Needed!

Klingel-Bryan-Beard Wildlife Refuge
Friday, June 24th, 9am - 12pm

Thanks to your help, we got over 5,000 native trees and shrubs planted in this preserve! Now it's time to go back and make sure that they stay healthy and strong in their first year. GPC staff and volunteers will be mulching the plants and removing any invasives that are getting too close for comfort.

Land Labs:
Biological Indicators at Curley Creek Tyner Preserve

This May, GPC's Land Labs team ran four field trips for 110 local middle schoolers. Students learned about the importance of stewardship through monitoring Curley Creek using biological indicators. Students calculated a Pollution Tolerance Index which specifies overall water quality for bodies of water. This data is collected and kept by GPC to use to monitor the water quality of Curley Creek.

Land Labs runs community science projects like this to connect students to nature and introduce them to STEM career fields!

Are you interested in supporting students through outdoor education? Become a volunteer teacher! No prior experience required.
