December News Happy Holidays from GPC! |
|
The image above is a reminder of why we all do this work. Looking down from space, you can see the extensive green and blue across the peninsula as well as our connections to the rest of the Pacific Northwest. Everyone who helps protect these land and water across our region, from you reading this to all our amazing partners, is an important contributor to a healthy future. Thank you for all the work you do and for supporting GPC! |

Thanks to everyone who helped GPC exceed our $10,000 goal on Giving Tuesday. The $14,257 that 43 donors contributed to local conservation on Giving Tuesday was directly matched by generous leadership gifts! If you are thinking about making a year-end gift to GPC we still have a matching challenge until the end of the year. Your gift goes directly to protecting and stewarding land and water across our region. Thank you for helping make 2023 a success! |

| Celebrating Volunteer Land Stewards! |
| | GPC’s stewardship team monitors over 125 properties every year, and we couldn’t do it without our Volunteer Land Stewards (VoLS). Check out some of our accomplishments with our VoLS this year: -
37 VoLS conducted 52 site visits on GPC preserves. -
VoLS contributed 80 hours towards monitoring - that’s over $2,500 in donated time! GPC’s stewardship team is tasked with monitoring over 125 properties every year. If you’ve kept up with our previous communications, you’ll see that we do a lot more than just monitoring! The support from members of our community increases our capacity to care for our preserves, both now and for the future. Thank you, Volunteer Land Stewards! |
| | Newberry Woods Community Forest Advisory Team Update |
| | In September of this year, GPC convened a Community Forest Advisory Team (CFAT) for the Newberry Woods Community Forest. Consisting of ten individuals from across sectors and interest groups, the CFAT provides input and feedback on the anticipated activities and management in Newberry Woods. The team has met monthly to discuss topics ranging from forest management to community engagement, and public access; next year the CFAT will assist in the creation of a five-year Strategic Plan for Newberry Woods Community Forest. Look for more updates in 2024! |
