The History and Future of Stewardship at Klingel-Bryan-Beard Wildlife Refuge
Friday, February 24th from 10am - 12pm
Last year, 317 volunteers joined Great Peninsula Conservancy to plant 5,000 native trees and shrubs at the Klingel-Bryan-Beard Wildlife Refuge as part of an assisted migration study with Western Washington University to support climate resilience, but the history of stewardship on the property begins long before that! Join us next Friday, February 24th at the site for a Walk & Talk made possible by the Mason County Historic Preservation Committee. Together, we’ll also take a look back at the history of this amazing example of Hood Canal saltmarsh and hear an update from Western Washington University graduate student Chelsea Harris about the current restoration work contributing to her research. There may be an opportunity for attendees to assist Chelsea with some winter monitoring, so come prepared to get hands-on!
