2026 Kitsap County City Nature Challenge with GPC

April 25, 9:00 am – 11:00 pm

Join GPC for two bioblitz events as part of the global City Nature Challenge! Be part of a coalition of Kitsap-based organizations documenting local plants, animals, and fungi to better understand the area’s ecological health. Groups of participants will explore locations throughout the watershed to find, identify, and document species, and we welcome budding and experienced naturalists of all experience levels and physical abilities.

Silverdale

Join GPC, Kitsap Audubon, and Kitsap Regional Library at the Silverdale Rotary Gateway Park from 9:00am - 11:00am. 

Kingston

Join GPC staff and volunteers in Kingston in the Carpenter Creek Watershed from 10:00am - 12:00pm.

 

Looking for other bioblitz locations near you? Find more on iNaturalist.

• Step One: Join the Kitsap County iNaturalist Project on iNaturalist. There, you can view additional events in the Kitsap region.
• Step Two: Pick a local bioblitz event (as many as you like)!
• Step Three: Participate! Make observations and take photos during an event or on your own from April 24th through April 27th.

Can't join an event? There are two ways to be involved!

• From April 24th - April 27th, take pictures of WILD plants and animals and upload to iNaturalist.
• From April 28th - May 10th, help identify what was found through your local project page.

Please note: Activities require the use of iNaturalist in order to be catalogued for the City Nature Challenge, which can be accessed via mobile app or website. GPC is hosting bioblitz opportunities at locations that are primarily paved, though some sections may be unpaved.
