Award-winning environmental journalist Ashley Ahearn has covered natural resources and science for NPR and member stations for almost two decades. Ashley lives in the sagebrush country of eastern Washington where she herds cows for local ranchers and trains mustangs. She also serves on the board of her local land trust, the Methow Conservancy.

In memory of his dedication to the environment, cultural preservation, and salmon recovery, this year’s award goes to former Chair of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, Jeromy Sullivan.
